- Develop and implement a variety of recreational programs and activities for the community.
- Collaborate with other staff members to create engaging and inclusive programs that cater to all ages and abilities.
- Conduct research and stay up-to-date on current trends and best practices in the recreation field.
- Utilize creativity and innovation to continuously improve existing programs and develop new ones.
- Communicate effectively with participants, staff, and community members to promote programs and address any concerns or feedback.
- Manage program budgets and ensure resources are used efficiently.
- Coordinate with vendors and community partners to enhance program offerings.
- Recruit, train, and supervise program staff and volunteers.
- Conduct program evaluations to gather feedback and make necessary improvements.
- Maintain accurate records and reports for program attendance, budget, and other relevant data.
- Ensure all programs are in compliance with safety and risk management guidelines.
- Act as a positive representative of the City of San Mateo and the recreation department at community events and meetings.
- Keep abreast of community needs and interests to develop programs that reflect the diverse population of San Mateo.
- Participate in departmental meetings and trainings to stay informed on policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Uphold the mission and values of the City of San Mateo and the recreation department in all aspects of the job.
Bachelor's Degree In Recreation Management, Parks And Recreation Administration, Or Related Field.
Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience In Planning And Implementing Recreational Programs.
Knowledge Of Community Engagement And Outreach Strategies.
Strong Communication And Customer Service Skills.
Ability To Work Evenings And Weekends As Needed.
