Welcome to the City of San Luis Obispo! We are currently seeking enthusiastic and responsible individuals to join our team as Lifeguards. As a Lifeguard, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our community members at our various aquatic facilities. We are looking for individuals who are dedicated to providing exceptional customer service, have strong communication skills, and are able to remain calm and composed in emergency situations. - Monitor and supervise designated areas of the aquatic facility to ensure the safety of all guests.
- Enforce all facility rules and regulations to maintain a safe and orderly environment.
- Provide excellent customer service to all facility guests, including answering questions and addressing concerns.
- Remain vigilant and alert at all times, quickly responding to any potential safety hazards or emergencies.
- Perform water rescues and administer first aid or CPR as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of incidents and complete required reports.
- Participate in regular training and drills to maintain and improve lifeguard skills.
- Keep the aquatic facility clean and organized, including regular maintenance of equipment and facilities.
- Communicate effectively with co-workers and supervisors to ensure a smooth and efficient operation.
- Act as a positive role model and demonstrate professional behavior at all times.
- Attend staff meetings and training sessions as required.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures.
- Assist with special events and programs as needed.
- Stay up-to-date on all certifications and training requirements.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by supervisors.
Current Certification In Lifeguarding, First Aid, And Cpr/Aed From A Recognized Organization Such As The American Red Cross Or The Ymca.
Minimum Of 1 Year Of Experience As A Lifeguard At A Public Pool, Beach, Or Waterpark.
Ability To Swim 500 Yards Continuously And Tread Water For 2 Minutes.
Strong Communication And Customer Service Skills, With The Ability To Effectively Handle Emergency Situations And Interact With The Public.
Knowledge Of Pool Safety Rules And Regulations, As Well As The Ability To Enforce Them And Maintain A Safe Swimming Environment.
