  1. Conduct audits of various financial and operational processes within the City of San Jose to ensure compliance with regulations and policies.
  2. Review and analyze financial data, records, and reports to identify potential areas of risk or fraud.
  3. Develop and implement audit plans and procedures to effectively assess the city's financial controls and processes.
  4. Prepare detailed audit reports with findings and recommendations to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  5. Work closely with department heads and staff to provide guidance and recommendations for improving financial practices and procedures.
  6. Train and mentor junior auditors to ensure consistent and accurate audit practices within the team.
  7. Stay updated on changes in regulations and laws related to auditing and implement necessary changes to audit procedures.
  8. Collaborate with other departments and agencies to share best practices and improve overall financial management.
  9. Communicate audit findings and recommendations to senior management and assist in the implementation of corrective actions.
  10. Maintain confidentiality and objectivity in all audit processes and interactions.
  11. Participate in special projects and initiatives as assigned by senior management.
  12. Continuously evaluate and improve the effectiveness of the city's internal controls and risk management processes.
  13. Represent the City of San Jose in a professional and positive manner at all times.
  14. Uphold the city's commitment to diversity, inclusion, and public service in all aspects of the job.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Accounting, Finance, Or A Related Field.

  • At Least 5 Years Of Experience In Auditing And Financial Analysis.

  • Certified Public Accountant (Cpa) Or Certified Internal Auditor (Cia) Designation.

  • Extensive Knowledge Of Gaap, Internal Controls, And Audit Standards.

  • Strong Written And Verbal Communication Skills, Including The Ability To Present Complex Financial Information To Non-Technical Stakeholders.
