  1. Oversee the entire permitting process for construction projects in the City of San Jose.
  2. Ensure that all building projects comply with relevant building codes and regulations.

  4. Communicate with developers, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure a smooth and efficient permitting process.
  5. Keep up-to-date with changes in building codes and regulations and incorporate them into the permitting process.

  7. Collaborate with other departments and agencies to ensure coordination and consistency in the permitting process.
  8. Provide guidance and support to junior permit specialists and other staff members.

  10. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records and documentation related to permits and building projects.
  11. Conduct site visits and inspections to ensure compliance with approved permits.
  12. Handle any complaints or concerns related to the permitting process.
  13. Conduct trainings and workshops for developers and contractors on building codes and regulations.
  14. Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to the permitting process.
  15. Ensure that all projects contribute to the growth and development of the community.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Urban Planning, Public Administration, Or A Related Field.

  • Minimum Of 5 Years Of Experience In Permit Processing And Land Use Regulations, Preferably In A Municipal Government Setting.

  • Strong Knowledge Of Local And State Laws, Regulations, And Codes Related To Land Use, Zoning, And Building Permits.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills To Effectively Collaborate With Various Stakeholders, Including Government Officials, Developers, And Community Members.

  • Ability To Manage Multiple Projects And Priorities, And Make Sound Decisions In A Fast-Paced And Dynamic Environment.
