
Principal Accountant - Energy Department

- Manage financial operations of the Energy Department, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.
- Provide strategic financial guidance and recommendations to department leadership.
- Collaborate with other departments and external stakeholders to develop and implement financial strategies.
- Monitor and analyze financial data to identify areas for improvement and cost-saving opportunities.
- Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff to ensure accurate and timely completion of tasks.
- Participate in the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to financial management.
- Prepare financial statements and reports for department leadership, city officials, and regulatory agencies.
- Conduct audits and other reviews to ensure the integrity of financial data and compliance with established procedures.
- Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in accounting, finance, and energy to inform decision making.
- Represent the Energy Department in meetings and discussions related to financial matters.
- Collaborate with external auditors and assist with the preparation of audit materials.
- Proactively identify and resolve financial issues and provide recommendations for process improvements.
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality and integrity in handling sensitive financial information.
- Act as a liaison between the Energy Department and other city departments, as well as external partners and vendors.
Bachelor's Degree In Accounting, Finance, Or A Related Field.
Certified Public Accountant (Cpa) Designation.
Minimum Of 5 Years Of Experience In Accounting, With At Least 3 Years In The Energy Industry.
Strong Knowledge Of Gaap And Financial Reporting For Energy Organizations.
Experience Managing And Leading A Team Of Accountants And Financial Analysts.
