  1. Develop and implement strategic policies to improve the operations of the City of San Jose.
  2. Oversee and manage the daily operations of the City Manager's Office of Administration, Policy & Intergovernmental Relations.
  3. Lead and supervise a team of professionals to ensure efficient and effective delivery of services.
  4. Collaborate with various departments and stakeholders to identify and address key issues and challenges facing the city.
  5. Provide guidance and support to city staff in implementing policies and initiatives.
  6. Stay updated on local, state, and federal laws and regulations that may impact the city's operations.
  7. Prepare and present reports, presentations, and recommendations to city leadership and elected officials.
  8. Develop and manage the department's budget and resources to ensure optimal utilization.
  9. Foster a positive and inclusive work culture that promotes teamwork and excellence.
  10. Act as a representative of the city in meetings, conferences, and other events.
  11. Maintain strong relationships with other governmental agencies and community partners.
  12. Continuously evaluate and improve department processes and procedures to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  13. Serve as a role model for ethical and professional behavior.
  14. Handle and resolve any conflicts or issues that may arise within the department.
  15. Provide guidance and support to city leadership in making informed decisions for the betterment of the community.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Public Administration, Political Science, Or A Related Field

  • Minimum Of 5 Years Of Experience In A Leadership Role Within Local Government

  • Extensive Knowledge Of Municipal Government Operations, Policies, And Procedures

  • Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Effectively Collaborate And Build Relationships With Internal And External Stakeholders

  • Experience In Policy Development And Implementation, As Well As Intergovernmental Relations And Advocacy At The Local, State, And Federal Levels.
