Job Description

As a Council Aide, you will play a crucial role in supporting our elected officials and assisting with various administrative tasks.   1. Provide administrative support to elected officials, including scheduling meetings, managing calendars, and organizing events.
  2. Maintain open and effective communication with elected officials, staff, and community members.
  3. Conduct research and gather information to assist in decision-making processes.
  4. Prepare and distribute official correspondence, reports, and presentations.
  5. Manage and maintain records and files related to city council activities.
  6. Coordinate and attend meetings, take minutes, and follow up on action items.
  7. Assist with the planning and execution of community events and outreach initiatives.
  8. Monitor and track city council-related issues and provide updates to elected officials.
  9. Respond to inquiries and concerns from constituents in a timely and professional manner.
  10. Collaborate with other city departments and agencies to address community needs and concerns.
  11. Ensure the confidentiality and security of sensitive information.
  12. Stay informed and up-to-date on local and national political issues and developments.
  13. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Political Science, Public Administration, Or A Related Field.

  • Minimum Of 1-2 Years Of Experience In Government Or Community Relations, Preferably In A Municipal Setting.

  • Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Interact Effectively With City Officials, Staff, And The General Public.

  • Knowledge Of Local Government Processes And Procedures, Including Familiarity With City Of San Jose Policies And Programs.

  • Proficiency In Microsoft Office And Other Relevant Software Applications, As Well As The Ability To Learn And Use New Technology And Software Platforms.
