
Code Enforcement Inspector

- Conduct regular inspections of residential, commercial, and industrial properties to ensure compliance with city codes and regulations.
- Investigate complaints and reports of potential code violations and take appropriate action to resolve issues.
- Communicate with property owners, tenants, and other relevant parties to address code violations and educate them on compliance requirements.
- Enforce city codes and regulations through the issuance of citations, warnings, and notices of violation.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of inspections, violations, and enforcement actions.
- Collaborate with other city departments, law enforcement, and community organizations to address complex or ongoing code enforcement issues.
- Participate in training and education opportunities to stay current on city codes and regulations.
- Provide excellent customer service to residents and businesses, responding to inquiries and concerns in a timely and professional manner.
- Assist in the development and implementation of new code enforcement policies and procedures.
- Continuously evaluate and improve code enforcement processes to ensure effectiveness and efficiency.
- Represent the City of San Jose and the Code Enforcement division in a positive and professional manner.
- Adhere to ethical standards and maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job.
- Report any hazardous or dangerous conditions to the appropriate authorities.
- Maintain a positive working relationship with colleagues and supervisors, promoting a team-oriented work environment.

Knowledge Of Local Codes And Ordinances: A Code Enforcement Inspector At City Of San Jose Should Possess A Thorough Understanding Of Local Building Codes, Zoning Ordinances, And Other Regulations Related To Property Maintenance And Land Use.
Experience In Inspecting And Investigating: The Ideal Candidate Should Have Prior Experience In Conducting Inspections And Investigations Related To Building Code Violations, Property Maintenance, And Land Use. This Includes The Ability To Identify And Document Violations, Gather Evidence, And Prepare Accurate Reports.
Communication And Interpersonal Skills: This Role Requires Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills To Effectively Communicate With Property Owners, Contractors, And Other Stakeholders. The Candidate Should Be Able To Explain Complex Regulations In A Clear And Concise Manner And Resolve Conflicts Diplomatically.
Attention To Detail And Analytical Thinking: A Code Enforcement Inspector Should Have Keen Attention To Detail To Identify And Document Code Violations Accurately. They Should Also Possess Analytical Thinking Skills To Evaluate Complex Situations And Make Informed Decisions.
