- Conduct swim lessons for individuals of all ages, focusing on water safety techniques and proper swimming techniques.
- Prepare lesson plans and instructional materials to ensure effective teaching methods are utilized.
- Assess the swimming abilities of students and provide appropriate feedback and instruction to help them improve.
- Demonstrate proper safety procedures and protocols during all swimming activities.
- Enforce pool rules and regulations to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants.
- Maintain a safe and clean aquatic environment, including regularly checking and maintaining equipment and facilities.
- Communicate effectively with participants and their parents/guardians to provide updates on progress and address any concerns.
- Keep accurate records of attendance, progress, and any incidents that occur during lessons.
- Attend and participate in training sessions and meetings to stay up-to-date on water safety techniques and procedures.
- Serve as a positive role model for students by promoting a passion for swimming and water safety.
- Collaborate with other Water Safety Instructors and aquatic staff to ensure a cohesive and effective program.
- Continuously strive to improve teaching skills and stay current with industry developments and trends.
- Promote the City of San Diego's aquatic programs and events to the community.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and procedures, including first aid and lifeguarding protocols.
- Act as a positive representative of the City of San Diego by providing excellent customer service to all participants and visitors.
Current Lifeguard Certification: A Water Safety Instructor At The City Of San Diego Must Possess A Current Lifeguard Certification From A Recognized Organization Such As The American Red Cross Or The Ymca.
Water Safety Instruction Certification: Applicants Must Have A Valid Water Safety Instruction Certification From An Accredited Organization, Such As The American Red Cross Or The American Swim Coaches Association.
First Aid And Cpr Certification: Candidates Must Have A Current First Aid And Cpr Certification From A Recognized Organization, Such As The American Heart Association Or The American Red Cross.
Experience In Teaching Swim Lessons: A Water Safety Instructor At The City Of San Diego Must Have Previous Experience Teaching Swim Lessons, Preferably In A Group Setting.
Knowledge Of Water Safety Regulations: Applicants Must Have A Thorough Understanding Of Water Safety Regulations And Guidelines, As Well As Experience In Enforcing Them. This Includes Knowledge Of Pool Rules, Emergency Protocols, And Proper Use Of Safety Equipment.
