Job Description

The City of San Diego is seeking a Swimming Pool Manager III to join our team and oversee the operation and management of our public swimming pools.   1. Oversee the operation and management of multiple public swimming pools within the City of San Diego.
  2. Ensure the safety of all patrons by enforcing pool rules and regulations and implementing emergency procedures when necessary.
  3. Maintain a high level of cleanliness and sanitation in all pool areas, including pool decks, locker rooms, and restrooms.
  4. Develop and implement efficient scheduling for pool maintenance, lifeguard rotations, and swim lessons to maximize pool usage and resources.
  5. Train and supervise a team of lifeguards, pool attendants, and other aquatic staff to ensure proper performance and adherence to policies and procedures.
  6. Monitor and maintain pool equipment and supplies, including chemical levels, pool filters, and first aid kits.
  7. Collaborate with other city departments and external organizations to plan and execute special events and programs at the pools.
  8. Manage the budget for the aquatic facilities, including tracking expenses, forecasting needs, and making recommendations for improvements and upgrades.
  9. Communicate with the public, addressing any concerns or complaints and providing excellent customer service.
  10. Stay up to date on industry standards and best practices for pool management, and make recommendations for improvements to policies and procedures.
  11. Conduct regular inspections of the pools and surrounding areas to identify and address any safety hazards or maintenance needs.
  12. Maintain accurate records and reports related to pool usage, incidents, and maintenance activities.
  13. Attend meetings and training sessions as required to stay informed on city policies, safety protocols, and other relevant topics.
  14. Serve as a liaison between the City of San Diego and community groups, providing information and assistance as needed.
  15. Continuously strive to improve the quality and efficiency of the aquatic facilities and programs to better serve the community.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Recreation Management, Business Administration, Or A Related Field.

  • Minimum Of 5 Years Of Experience In Managing A Public Swimming Pool Facility.

  • Certified Pool Operator (Cpo) Or Aquatic Facility Operator (Afo) Certification.

  • Strong Knowledge Of Safety Protocols, Lifeguarding Procedures, And Pool Maintenance.

  • Excellent Communication And Leadership Skills, With The Ability To Train And Supervise Staff Effectively.
