  1. Plan and coordinate recreational programs and events for all ages.
  2. Utilize creativity and energy to develop fun and engaging activities.
  3. Work closely with team members to brainstorm and implement new ideas for programs and events.
  4. Assist in preparing and setting up equipment and materials for programs and events.
  5. Maintain a safe and welcoming environment for program participants.
  6. Communicate with the community and promote upcoming programs and events.
  7. Provide excellent customer service and address any concerns or issues from program participants.
  8. Keep accurate records of program attendance and participant feedback.
  9. Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures during programs and events.
  10. Assist in managing program budget and purchasing necessary supplies.
  11. Collaborate with other departments and organizations to coordinate joint programs and events.
  12. Stay up-to-date with current trends and research in recreation and event planning.
  13. Assist in recruiting and training volunteers to support programs and events.
  14. Attend meetings and training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge.
  15. Represent the City of San Diego in a professional and positive manner at all times.

Job Qualifications
  • High School Diploma Or Equivalent: The City Of San Diego Requires That All Recreation Aide Applicants Have A High School Diploma Or Equivalent. This Ensures That Candidates Have A Basic Level Of Education And Are Able To Perform Tasks Such As Record-Keeping And Communication Effectively.

  • Cpr And First Aid Certification: As A Recreation Aide, You Will Be Responsible For The Safety And Well-Being Of Program Participants. Having A Current Cpr And First Aid Certification Demonstrates That You Are Prepared To Handle Emergency Situations That May Arise.

  • Previous Experience Working With Children Or In A Recreational Setting: The City Of San Diego Values Experience When Considering Candidates For The Recreation Aide Position. Previous Experience Working With Children Or In A Recreational Setting Shows That You Have The Necessary Skills And Knowledge To Plan And Lead Recreational Activities.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills: Recreation Aides Are Expected To Interact With Program Participants, Parents, And Other Staff Members. Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills Are Essential For Building Positive Relationships And Creating A Welcoming And Inclusive Environment.

  • Availability To Work Evenings And Weekends: Many Recreation Programs Offered By The City Of San Diego Take Place In The Evenings And On Weekends. Therefore, It Is Important That Candidates For The Recreation Aide Position Have A Flexible Schedule And Are Able To Work During These Times.
