  1. Develop and implement policies that align with the City of San Diego's mission and goals.
  2. Conduct research and analysis to inform policy decisions and identify best practices.
  3. Collaborate with various city departments and community stakeholders to gather input and incorporate diverse perspectives.
  4. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of existing policies and make recommendations for improvement.
  5. Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
  6. Create and present policy proposals to city leadership and other decision-makers.
  7. Communicate policy changes and updates to relevant stakeholders and the public.
  8. Manage and oversee the implementation of policies and programs.
  9. Stay informed about current events, trends, and issues that may impact city policies.
  10. Develop and maintain relationships with community organizations and leaders to promote collaboration and inclusivity in policy development.
  11. Serve as a subject matter expert on local government processes and procedures.
  12. Train and supervise policy staff to ensure high-quality work and adherence to deadlines.
  13. Foster a positive and productive work environment within the policy team.
  14. Represent the City of San Diego at meetings, conferences, and other events related to policy development.
  15. Continuously seek ways to improve policies and processes to better serve the community.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Or Master's Degree In Public Policy, Political Science, Or A Related Field.

  • Minimum Of 5 Years Of Experience In Policy Development, Implementation, And Evaluation.

  • Knowledge And Understanding Of Local Government Operations And Regulations.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Work With Diverse Stakeholders.

  • Experience In Project Management, Including Budgeting, Planning, And Leading A Team.
