Job Description

Welcome to the City of San Diego's Police Department, where we are dedicated to serving and protecting our community. As a Police Officer I, you will be responsible for patrolling designated areas, responding to emergency calls, and enforcing laws and regulations. This position requires individuals who are physically fit, mentally alert, and possess excellent communication and problem-solving skills.   1. Conduct routine patrols of designated areas to ensure public safety and enforce laws and regulations.
  2. Respond to emergency calls and situations in a timely and professional manner.
  3. Investigate and report any suspicious or criminal activities.
  4. Conduct traffic stops, issue citations, and make arrests when necessary.
  5. Communicate effectively and professionally with community members, colleagues, and superiors.
  6. Maintain accurate and detailed records of all activities and incidents.
  7. Handle and resolve conflicts and difficult situations using effective problem-solving skills.
  8. Continuously assess and analyze potential risks and take appropriate actions to mitigate them.
  9. Attend and participate in training sessions and workshops to enhance skills and knowledge.
  10. Uphold the department's values and code of ethics at all times.
  11. Demonstrate physical fitness and mental alertness to effectively perform job duties.
  12. Work collaboratively with team members and other law enforcement agencies.
  13. Serve as a positive role model in the community and build positive relationships with residents.
  14. Stay updated on relevant laws, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance.
  15. Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries.

  • High School Diploma Or Ged: Applicants For The Police Officer I Position Must Have A High School Diploma Or Equivalent.
