Job Description

Welcome to the City of San Diego, where innovation and progress are at the forefront of our engineering department. We are currently seeking a highly motivated and driven individual to join our team as an Engineering Trainee. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about building a successful career in engineering and is eager to learn and grow in a dynamic and diverse environment. As a trainee, you will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced engineers on a variety of projects and gain hands-on experience in all aspects of engineering. The ideal candidate for this role is a recent graduate with a degree in engineering and a strong desire to make a positive impact on the community. If you possess a strong work ethic, excellent communication skills, and a thirst for knowledge, we want to hear from you.

  1. Learn and understand the City of San Diego's engineering department's goals, objectives, and procedures.
  2. Work closely with experienced engineers to gain hands-on experience in all aspects of engineering.
  3. Participate in and contribute to team meetings and projects.
  4. Assist in the design, development, and implementation of engineering projects.
  5. Conduct research and analyze data to support project planning and decision making.
  6. Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to ensure project success.
  7. Follow all safety protocols and procedures while working on projects.
  8. Maintain accurate and detailed records of project progress and results.
  9. Keep updated on industry developments and advancements in engineering.
  10. Demonstrate a strong work ethic and willingness to take on new challenges.
  11. Communicate effectively and professionally with team members and stakeholders.
  12. Take initiative and show a proactive approach to learning and growing in the field of engineering.
  13. Represent the City of San Diego in a positive and professional manner.
  14. Adhere to all ethical standards and codes of conduct in the engineering field.
  15. Continuously seek opportunities to improve processes and procedures within the engineering department.
