Job Description

As an Associate Engineer in the Civil division, you will play a vital role in the design, construction, and maintenance of our city's infrastructure.   1. Design and plan infrastructure projects for the City of San Diego, including roads, bridges, and other structures, in accordance with established engineering principles and standards.
  2. Collaborate with other city departments, contractors, and external stakeholders to ensure successful project completion and timely delivery.
  3. Conduct site visits and inspections to evaluate existing infrastructure and identify areas in need of maintenance or improvement.
  4. Prepare and review technical reports, drawings, and specifications for proposed projects, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations and codes.
  5. Utilize software and other tools to create and analyze plans and designs, and make recommendations for cost-effective and sustainable solutions.
  6. Assist with project budgeting and cost estimation, and ensure that projects are completed within allocated funds.
  7. Stay updated on industry developments, new technologies, and best practices in civil engineering, and incorporate them into project designs as appropriate.
  8. Ensure that all projects adhere to environmental regulations and sustainability guidelines.
  9. Communicate effectively with team members, management, and external stakeholders to provide updates, address concerns, and resolve issues related to projects.
  10. Contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures for the Civil division, and participate in training and mentoring of junior engineers.
  11. Represent the City of San Diego in meetings and public forums, and provide technical expertise and guidance to support decision-making.
  12. Maintain accurate and organized project records, including documentation of design changes, approvals, and project milestones.
  13. Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations, and promote a safe working environment for all team members.
  14. Uphold the values and vision of the City of San Diego, and strive to make a positive impact on the community through your work.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Civil Engineering Or Related Field From An Accredited University.

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience In Civil Engineering, Preferably In A Municipal Or Public Sector Setting.

  • Knowledge Of Local, State, And Federal Laws And Regulations Related To Civil Engineering And Land Development.

  • Proficiency In Computer-Aided Design (Cad) Software And Other Relevant Engineering Software.

  • Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Effectively Collaborate With Team Members And Stakeholders.
