  1. Develop and implement recreational programs and activities specifically tailored for the aging population in the City of San Diego.
  2. Collaborate with other team members to plan and execute events and programs that promote an active and fulfilling lifestyle for seniors.
  3. Conduct outreach to the community and engage with seniors to understand their needs and interests in recreational activities.
  4. Maintain a safe and welcoming environment for all participants, ensuring that all programs and activities are accessible and inclusive.
  5. Keep up-to-date with current trends and best practices in aging recreation, and incorporate them into the program offerings.
  6. Create and manage budgets for all recreational programs and activities, ensuring that all expenses are accounted for and justified.
  7. Recruit and train volunteers to assist with program implementation and provide support to seniors during activities.
  8. Develop and maintain relationships with community partners, such as senior centers and retirement communities, to expand program reach and impact.
  9. Act as a liaison between the City of San Diego and the aging community, addressing any concerns or suggestions and providing support as needed.
  10. Continuously evaluate program success and gather feedback from participants to make necessary improvements and adjustments.
  11. Communicate effectively with team members, seniors, and community partners to ensure successful program coordination and execution.
  12. Adhere to all city policies and regulations while carrying out job responsibilities.
  13. Maintain accurate records and documentation of program attendance, budgets, and evaluations.
  14. Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in the field of aging recreation.
  15. Embrace and promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of the job.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Recreation, Gerontology, Or Related Field.

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Experience Working With Older Adults In A Recreational Setting.

  • Knowledge Of Aging Trends And Issues, As Well As Recreational Programming For This Population.

  • Ability To Develop And Implement Engaging And Inclusive Recreational Activities For Older Adults.

  • Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Build Rapport And Establish Relationships With Older Adults And Their Families.
