  1. Monitor and inspect construction projects within the city's right of way to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
  2. Identify potential safety hazards and ensure that proper safety measures are in place to protect the public.
  3. Review construction plans and specifications to ensure adherence to city codes and standards.
  4. Document and report any violations or non-compliance issues to appropriate authorities.
  5. Communicate and coordinate with contractors, engineers, and other stakeholders to resolve any issues or concerns.
  6. Conduct site visits and inspections at various stages of construction to assess progress and quality of work.
  7. Verify proper installation of utilities, sidewalks, curbs, and other infrastructure elements.
  8. Collect and maintain accurate records, including inspection reports, photographs, and documentation of any changes or discrepancies.
  9. Collaborate with other departments and agencies to ensure coordination and efficiency in construction projects.
  10. Stay updated on industry standards, regulations, and best practices related to public infrastructure construction and safety.
  11. Respond to inquiries and complaints from the public regarding construction activities.
  12. Attend project meetings and provide input and recommendations as needed.
  13. Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures relating to right of way construction.
  14. Act as a liaison between the city and construction contractors to ensure smooth and timely completion of projects.
  15. Uphold a high level of professionalism and represent the city in a positive manner at all times.

Job Qualifications
  • High School Diploma Or Equivalent: The City Of Pittsburgh Requires All Right Of Way Construction Inspectors To Have A High School Diploma Or Equivalent. This Ensures A Basic Level Of Education And Knowledge For The Job.

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience In Construction Or Related Field: To Be Considered For The Position, Applicants Must Have At Least 2 Years Of Experience In Construction Or A Related Field. This Experience Should Include Knowledge Of Construction Methods, Procedures, And Materials.

  • Knowledge Of City Codes And Regulations: Right Of Way Construction Inspectors Must Have A Thorough Understanding Of All Local, State, And Federal Codes And Regulations Related To Construction. This Includes Knowledge Of Building Codes, Zoning Laws, And Safety Regulations.
