Principal Planner - RCP

1. Lead and manage the development and implementation of the Regional Context Plan (RCP) for the City of Pittsburgh.
2. Collaborate with various stakeholders, including community members, city departments, and external partners, to gather input and incorporate diverse perspectives into the RCP.
3. Conduct research and analysis to inform the RCP, including data collection, mapping, and trend analysis.
4. Develop and present recommendations for sustainable growth and development strategies based on best practices and the unique needs of the city.
5. Manage and oversee the execution of the RCP, including coordinating with project teams and consultants, tracking progress, and ensuring deadlines are met.
6. Provide technical expertise in urban planning and zoning regulations to support the development of the RCP and other city planning initiatives.
7. Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate collaboration and communication throughout the planning process.
8. Serve as a subject matter expert on urban planning and development issues for the city, providing guidance and recommendations to city officials and departments.
9. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the RCP, making adjustments and recommendations as needed to ensure its success.
10. Represent the city at public meetings, conferences, and other events to promote the RCP and engage with the community.
11. Mentor and support junior planners and interns, providing guidance and feedback to help them develop their skills and knowledge.
12. Stay current on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies related to urban planning and incorporate them into the RCP and other planning efforts.
13. Contribute to the development of long-term strategic plans for the city and provide input on policies and initiatives related to sustainable growth and development.
14. Demonstrate a strong commitment to equity and inclusion in all planning efforts, ensuring that the RCP addresses the needs and concerns of all residents.
15. Other duties as assigned by the Director of Planning and Development.
