  1. Perform a wide variety of laboratory tests and procedures to analyze and monitor the quality of water and wastewater samples.
  2. Ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations by accurately conducting tests and maintaining detailed records.
  3. Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, troubleshoot any issues, and perform routine maintenance to ensure accuracy and reliability of results.
  4. Prepare and standardize chemical solutions and reagents for use in laboratory tests.
  5. Follow strict safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment for yourself and others.
  6. Collaborate with other team members and departments to collect and analyze data, identify any potential issues, and make recommendations for improvement.
  7. Keep up-to-date with the latest laboratory techniques, equipment, and technologies to continuously improve processes and procedures.
  8. Communicate test results and findings to relevant stakeholders and provide recommendations for any necessary corrective actions.
  9. Maintain accurate and organized records of all laboratory tests, procedures, and results in accordance with standard operating procedures.
  10. Adhere to quality control and quality assurance procedures to ensure accuracy and reliability of laboratory tests and results.
  11. Assist in the development and implementation of new testing methods and procedures.
  12. Participate in training and development programs to enhance skills and knowledge in laboratory techniques and procedures.
  13. Actively contribute to a positive and collaborative team environment, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and excellence.
  14. Support the City of Omaha's mission to provide safe and clean water for all by ensuring the accuracy and reliability of laboratory test results.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In A Relevant Field Such As Biology, Chemistry, Or Medical Technology.

  • Previous Experience Working In A Laboratory Setting, Preferably In A Municipal Or Government Setting.

  • Strong Knowledge Of Laboratory Procedures And Techniques, Including Safety Protocols.

  • Familiarity With Laboratory Equipment And Instrumentation, Including The Ability To Troubleshoot And Maintain Equipment.

  • Excellent Communication And Organization Skills, With The Ability To Accurately Record And Report Data.
