We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated Transportation Engineer to join our team.As a Transportation Engineer with the City of Oakland, you will play a crucial role in the planning, design, and implementation of transportation projects throughout the city. Your expertise will help us to improve the flow of traffic, enhance pedestrian and cyclist safety, and promote sustainable transportation options.To be successful in this role, you must possess a strong understanding of transportation engineering principles and have experience with project management. A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field is required, and a Professional Engineering license is preferred.   1. Collaborate with city officials and other departments to identify transportation needs and develop plans to address them.
  2. Utilize transportation engineering principles and knowledge to design and implement projects that improve traffic flow, pedestrian and cyclist safety, and promote sustainable transportation options.
  3. Conduct research and analysis to inform transportation project decisions and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  4. Manage transportation projects from conception to completion, including developing project timelines, budgets, and coordinating with contractors and other stakeholders.
  5. Communicate project updates and progress to city officials, residents, and other stakeholders through written reports, presentations, and public meetings.
  6. Conduct site visits and inspections to assess the effectiveness and safety of transportation systems and identify areas for improvement.
  7. Use computer-aided design (CAD) software and other tools to create detailed plans and drawings for transportation projects.
  8. Stay updated on industry trends, new technologies, and best practices in transportation engineering to continuously improve the city's transportation network.
  9. Mentor and train junior engineers and other staff members on transportation engineering principles and project management.
  10. Maintain accurate records and documentation of project plans, budgets, and progress reports.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Civil Engineering Or A Related Field.

  • Professional Engineer (Pe) License In The State Of California.

  • Minimum Of 5 Years Of Experience In Transportation Engineering, Preferably In A Municipal Or Government Setting.

  • Knowledge And Experience With Transportation Planning, Design, And Construction Principles, Practices, And Regulations.

  • Strong Communication And Project Management Skills, With The Ability To Work Collaboratively With A Diverse Team And Stakeholders To Deliver Transportation Projects On Time And Within Budget.
