
Sports Official
Under general supervision in Oakland Parks, Recreation & Youth Development, Sports Officials use a full range of technical skills to officiate a wide variety of sports and athletic events at an assigned gymnasium, ball field or court; and perform related duties as assigned. Sports officials will communicate with other sports officials, coaches and players, make quick but well-informed decisions and enforce game and facility rules.
- Officiate at City sports and athletic events.
- Determine methods of play and interpret and enforce game rules.
- Maintain knowledge of recreation and sports events rules and regulations.
- Maintain order and enforce safety procedures for both participants and spectators during sporting events.
- Ensure that courts, fields and equipment are in proper and safe playing condition.
- Resolve scoring and player disputes.
One year of experience officiating or playing in assigned sport.
Required to work evenings and weekends as assigned.
