  1. Plan and implement a variety of recreational programs and activities for community members of all ages and abilities.
  2. Develop and maintain relationships with community partners to enhance program offerings and reach a broader audience.
  3. Create and manage program budgets, ensuring resources are used effectively and efficiently.
  4. Market and promote programs through various channels to attract participants and increase community engagement.
  5. Collaborate with other city departments and staff to coordinate events and programs.
  6. Provide excellent customer service to program participants, addressing any concerns or issues in a timely and professional manner.
  7. Develop and maintain a safe and inclusive environment for all participants, adhering to all safety and risk management protocols.
  8. Recruit, train, and supervise program volunteers and staff to ensure high-quality program delivery.
  9. Continuously evaluate program effectiveness and make necessary adjustments to meet the needs and interests of the community.
  10. Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in recreational programming to continuously improve and expand program offerings.
  11. Maintain accurate records and reports of program participation, budget expenditures, and other necessary documentation.
  12. Act as a positive role model for participants and promote a positive image of the City of Oakland.
  13. Attend and actively participate in staff meetings and trainings.
  14. Demonstrate a commitment to diversity and inclusion in all aspects of program planning and delivery.
  15. Uphold the mission and values of the City of Oakland in all work activities.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Recreation Management Or A Related Field.

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Experience In Planning And Implementing Recreational Programs.

  • Knowledge Of Current Trends And Best Practices In Recreational Programming.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills For Working With Diverse Populations.

  • Ability To Obtain And Maintain Certifications In First Aid, Cpr, And Aed.
