- Oversee the daily operations of all city pools, including scheduling, maintenance, and staff management.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all pool patrons by enforcing all rules and regulations.
- Train and supervise pool staff, including lifeguards and maintenance personnel.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to maintain a clean and organized pool facility.
- Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and feedback in a timely and professional manner.
- Monitor pool usage and make adjustments to schedules as needed to accommodate high demand.
- Maintain accurate records of pool attendance, incidents, and staff schedules.
- Collaborate with other city departments to plan and execute special events and programs at the pool.
- Ensure all pool equipment is in good working condition and report any maintenance or repair needs.
- Stay updated on industry best practices and safety protocols and make recommendations for improvements.
- Assist with hiring and training new pool staff as needed.
- Create and manage the pool budget, making sure to stay within allocated funds.
- Conduct regular inspections of the pool facility to ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
- Act as a positive role model for pool staff and patrons, promoting a friendly and inclusive atmosphere.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Parks and Recreation Department.
Lifeguard Certification: A Pool Manager At The City Of Oakland Must Possess A Valid Lifeguard Certification From A Recognized Organization Such As The American Red Cross Or The Ymca. This Certification Ensures That The Pool Manager Has The Necessary Skills And Knowledge To Respond To Emergency Situations And Ensure The Safety Of All Pool Patrons.
Previous Experience: The Ideal Candidate For The Pool Manager Position Should Have At Least 2-3 Years Of Experience Working As A Lifeguard Or In A Similar Position At A Public Or Private Pool. This Experience Will Demonstrate The Candidate's Ability To Effectively Manage A Pool And Ensure The Safety Of All Patrons.
Strong Communication Skills: As A Pool Manager, The Individual Will Be Responsible For Communicating With A Diverse Group Of People, Including Staff, Patrons, And City Officials. Therefore, Strong Communication Skills, Both Verbal And Written, Are Essential For This Position.
Knowledge Of Pool Operations: The Pool Manager Should Have A Thorough Understanding Of Pool Operations, Including Water Chemistry, Pool Maintenance, And Equipment Maintenance. This Knowledge Will Help Ensure That The Pool Is Safe And Properly Maintained At All Times.
First Aid And Cpr Certification: In Addition To Lifeguard Certification, The Pool Manager Must Also Possess A Current First Aid And Cpr Certification. This Certification Will Enable The Individual To Respond To Medical Emergencies And Provide Necessary Care Until Emergency Medical Services Arrive.
