  1. Manage the fiscal operations of the Oakland Police Department to ensure efficient use of resources and effective budget management.
  2. Develop and implement financial policies and procedures for the department in alignment with the city's regulations and standards.
  3. Monitor and analyze department budgets, expenditures, and revenue to identify areas for improvement and cost-saving opportunities.
  4. Collaborate with department heads to develop and manage program budgets and funding requests.
  5. Prepare and present financial reports and recommendations to city officials and department leadership.
  6. Oversee the procurement process and ensure compliance with city purchasing policies and procedures.
  7. Review and approve financial transactions, contracts, and agreements.
  8. Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records and documentation.
  9. Coordinate with external auditors and regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with financial regulations.
  10. Develop and maintain relationships with vendors, contractors, and other stakeholders to negotiate favorable terms and pricing.
  11. Train and supervise staff responsible for financial transactions and record-keeping.
  12. Identify and implement strategies to improve financial efficiency and effectiveness.
  13. Stay updated on financial laws, regulations, and best practices to ensure compliance and recommend improvements.
  14. Represent the department in budget meetings and other financial discussions.
  15. Collaborate with other departments and city officials to develop and implement city-wide financial initiatives.
  16. Promote a positive and inclusive work culture and foster teamwork within the department.
  17. Handle any other duties and responsibilities as assigned by department leadership.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Accounting, Finance, Business Administration Or A Related Field.

  • Minimum Of 3 Years Of Experience In A Financial Management Or Budgeting Role, Preferably In A Law Enforcement Agency Or Government Setting.

  • Knowledge Of Federal, State, And Local Laws And Regulations Related To Fiscal Management And Budgeting.

  • Strong Analytical And Problem-Solving Skills With The Ability To Develop And Monitor Budgets, Analyze Financial Data, And Make Recommendations For Fiscal Planning.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills With The Ability To Work Collaboratively With Diverse Stakeholders, Including City Officials, Department Heads, And Community Members.
