- Maintain communication with law enforcement officers in the field to provide support and relay crucial information.
- Remain calm and composed under pressure while handling high-stress situations.
- Utilize computer-aided dispatch systems to accurately document and track emergency calls and responses.
- Monitor multiple radio channels and respond to requests for assistance from officers, fire departments, and other emergency services.
- Provide guidance and instructions to callers in emergency situations, including performing CPR and other first aid as needed.
- Follow established protocols and procedures to ensure the safety of officers and the public.
- Keep accurate records of all calls and dispatch activities.
- Serve as a liaison between the public and law enforcement, maintaining a professional and courteous demeanor at all times.
- Assist in training new dispatchers and providing ongoing support and guidance to team members.
- Continuously update knowledge and skills through attending training programs and staying informed on current laws and procedures.
- Adhere to strict confidentiality guidelines to protect sensitive information.
- Maintain a positive and professional attitude while representing the City of Oakland Police Department.
- Respond to non-emergency calls, including requests for information and assistance.
