Job Description

The City of Menlo Park is seeking a dedicated and experienced Recreation Specialist to join our team and lead our gymnastics programs. In this role, you will have the chance to inspire and guide participants of all ages and skill levels in a fun and safe environment.   1. Develop and implement high-quality gymnastics programs for participants of all ages and skill levels.
  2. Create a safe and welcoming environment for all participants, ensuring that all equipment and facilities are properly maintained and used.
  3. Lead and supervise gymnastics classes, camps, and workshops, providing instruction and guidance to participants.
  4. Design and modify lesson plans to meet the needs and abilities of each participant.
  5. Demonstrate proper techniques and form, and provide feedback and correction to help participants improve their skills.
  6. Communicate effectively and professionally with participants, parents, and colleagues to provide program information, address concerns, and promote upcoming events.
  7. Maintain accurate program records, including attendance, registration, and evaluations.
  8. Collaborate with other staff members to plan and coordinate special events and performances related to gymnastics.
  9. Continuously research and stay updated on current gymnastics trends and techniques to enhance program offerings.
  10. Ensure compliance with all safety guidelines and regulations, and promptly address any safety concerns or incidents.
  11. Act as a positive role model and mentor to participants, promoting sportsmanship, teamwork, and a love for gymnastics.
  12. Assist with the recruitment, training, and supervision of other staff members and volunteers involved in the gymnastics program.
  13. Participate in department meetings and trainings, and provide input and feedback to improve program offerings.
  14. Represent the City of Menlo Park and the gymnastics program in a professional and positive manner.
  15. Continuously evaluate and assess program effectiveness and make recommendations for improvements to enhance participant satisfaction and retention.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Recreation Management, Physical Education, Or A Related Field

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Experience Teaching And Coaching Gymnastics, Preferably In A Recreational Setting

  • Knowledge Of And Ability To Implement Safety Procedures And Regulations Related To Gymnastics Equipment And Facilities

  • Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills To Effectively Work With Participants, Parents, And Staff

  • Current Cpr And First Aid Certification, As Well As Any Necessary Gymnastics-Specific Certifications (E.g. Usa Gymnastics Safety Certification)
