  1. Conduct various chemical analyses and tests to support the city's water treatment, waste management, and environmental protection efforts.
  2. Develop and implement laboratory procedures and protocols to ensure accurate and efficient testing.
  3. Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment to ensure accurate and reliable results.
  4. Keep accurate and detailed records of all testing procedures and results.
  5. Communicate with other departments and agencies to share and gather information related to chemical testing and analysis.
  6. Provide technical expertise and recommendations to city officials and other stakeholders regarding chemical processes and procedures.
  7. Stay current with advancements and developments in the field of chemistry and incorporate new techniques and technologies into laboratory practices.
  8. Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and protocols in the laboratory.
  9. Train and mentor junior chemists and laboratory technicians.
  10. Collaborate with other team members to develop and implement strategies for improving chemical processes and increasing efficiency.
  11. Participate in community outreach and education programs to raise awareness about the city's chemical testing efforts and environmental protection initiatives.
  12. Represent the city at conferences, workshops, and other professional events related to chemistry and environmental science.
  13. Assist with budget planning and management for the laboratory department.
  14. Maintain a clean and organized laboratory workspace.
  15. Adhere to all city policies and procedures related to the position of Chemist.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Chemistry Or Related Field From An Accredited University.

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience In A Laboratory Setting, Preferably In A Municipal Or Government Setting.

  • Strong Knowledge And Understanding Of Chemical Principles And Analytical Techniques.

  • Ability To Operate And Maintain Laboratory Equipment, Including But Not Limited To Spectrophotometers, Gas Chromatographs, And Mass Spectrometers.

  • Excellent Communication And Problem-Solving Skills, With The Ability To Work Independently And As Part Of A Team.
