
Tree Superintendent - Forestry

- Oversee all forestry operations within the city, including tree planting, pruning, and removal.
- Develop and implement strategies for preserving and enhancing the city's urban forest.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and policies related to tree care and maintenance.
- Conduct regular inspections of trees to assess their health and identify any potential hazards.
- Coordinate with other city departments and outside contractors to plan and execute tree-related projects.
- Manage and maintain a budget for tree care and maintenance activities.
- Develop and implement training programs for city staff and community members on proper tree care and maintenance techniques.
- Respond to citizen inquiries and concerns regarding trees and provide education on the importance of trees in the community.
- Stay up-to-date on the latest arboriculture and forestry practices and techniques.
- Collaborate with local organizations and community groups to promote environmental stewardship and raise awareness on the importance of trees.
- Maintain accurate records and reports on all tree-related activities and expenses.
- Supervise a team of tree care technicians and provide guidance and support to ensure high-quality work.
- Develop and maintain partnerships with local nurseries and suppliers to ensure a steady supply of healthy trees for planting.
- Develop and implement emergency response plans for severe weather events or other tree-related emergencies.
- Continuously monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of tree care and maintenance programs and make recommendations for improvements.
Bachelor's Degree In Forestry, Natural Resource Management, Or A Related Field.
Minimum Of 5 Years Of Experience In Urban Forestry Or Arboriculture, With At Least 2 Years In A Supervisory Role.
Certified Arborist Or Tree Care Professional Designation From A Recognized Organization.
Extensive Knowledge Of Tree Species, Diseases, And Management Techniques Relevant To Urban Environments.
Strong Leadership And Communication Skills, With The Ability To Coordinate And Manage A Team Of Tree Care Professionals And Interact With City Officials And Community Members.
