Job Description

The City of Jersey City is seeking a highly qualified and dedicated individual to join our team as a Safety Inspector - Quality of Life. In this role, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our community by conducting inspections and enforcing regulations related to the quality of life in our city.   1. Conduct inspections of residential and commercial properties to ensure compliance with safety and quality of life regulations set by the city.
  2. Enforce regulations related to noise control, sanitation, housing standards, and other quality of life issues.
  3. Investigate complaints and concerns from community members regarding safety and quality of life issues, and take appropriate action to address them.
  4. Prepare reports and maintain accurate records of inspection findings and enforcement actions taken.
  5. Collaborate with other city departments and agencies to coordinate efforts and address safety concerns.
  6. Educate and inform the community about safety and quality of life regulations and the importance of compliance.
  7. Stay up-to-date on relevant laws, regulations, and best practices related to safety and quality of life.
  8. Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
  9. Work closely with city officials and other stakeholders to develop and implement strategies for improving safety and quality of life in the community.
  10. Represent the city in legal proceedings related to safety and quality of life violations.
  11. Maintain a professional and helpful demeanor when interacting with community members, businesses, and other stakeholders.
  12. Act as a liaison between the city and external agencies, such as fire and health departments, to address safety and quality of life concerns.
  13. Assist in the development and implementation of new policies and procedures related to safety and quality of life.
  14. Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines while performing inspections and enforcing regulations.
  15. Serve as a role model for other team members and demonstrate a strong commitment to upholding safety standards and making a positive impact on the community.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Occupational Health And Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Or A Related Field.

  • Minimum Of 3-5 Years Of Experience In Conducting Safety Inspections And Investigations In A Municipal Or Industrial Setting.

  • Knowledge Of Federal, State, And Local Safety And Health Regulations And Codes.

  • Professional Certification Such As Certified Safety Professional (Csp) Or Occupational Health And Safety Technician (Ohst).

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Effectively Train And Educate Employees On Safety Protocols And Procedures.
