  1. Conduct inspections and investigations to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal environmental health regulations.
  2. Identify and assess potential health hazards in the community and make recommendations for corrective action.
  3. Review and approve plans for new construction and renovations to ensure compliance with environmental health standards.
  4. Conduct site visits and collect samples for analysis to monitor air, water, and soil quality.
  5. Respond to and investigate complaints related to environmental health concerns.
  6. Provide education and outreach to the community on environmental health topics and regulations.
  7. Collaborate with other city departments and agencies to address environmental health issues and promote sustainable practices.
  8. Maintain accurate records and reports of inspections, investigations, and enforcement actions.
  9. Keep up-to-date with new developments and advancements in environmental health practices and regulations.
  10. Represent the city at meetings, conferences, and other events related to environmental health.
  11. Train and supervise other staff members in environmental health practices and procedures.
  12. Develop and implement environmental health policies and procedures for the city.
  13. Communicate effectively with residents, businesses, and other stakeholders regarding environmental health concerns and regulations.
  14. Participate in emergency response efforts related to environmental health hazards.
  15. Continuously evaluate and improve environmental health programs and initiatives in the city.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Environmental Health, Public Health, Or A Related Field.

  • Certification As A Registered Environmental Health Specialist (Rehs) By The New Jersey Department Of Health And Senior Services.

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience In Environmental Health Inspection And Enforcement.

  • Knowledge Of Local, State, And Federal Regulations Related To Environmental Health And Safety.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Work Collaboratively With Other Departments And External Stakeholders.
