Job Description

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to join our team as a Lead Poisoning Inspector at the City of Jersey City. In this role, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our community by identifying and addressing potential lead hazards. You will have the opportunity to work closely with residents, property owners, and other city officials to promote healthy living environments and prevent lead poisoning.   1. Conduct regular inspections of residential and commercial properties to identify potential sources of lead poisoning.
  2. Collaborate with property owners and residents to educate them on lead hazards and the importance of prevention and remediation.
  3. Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations related to lead poisoning prevention and remediation.
  4. Maintain accurate records of all inspections, findings, and actions taken.
  5. Work closely with other city officials, including health department staff and building inspectors, to address lead hazards and coordinate remediation efforts.
  6. Conduct follow-up inspections to ensure that lead hazards have been properly remediated.
  7. Develop and implement strategies to increase awareness of lead poisoning and prevention measures within the community.
  8. Provide guidance and support to property owners and residents on available resources for lead testing and remediation.
  9. Stay up-to-date on current research and best practices related to lead poisoning prevention and remediation.
  10. Serve as a liaison between the city and external agencies, such as the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), on lead poisoning prevention initiatives.
  11. Train and supervise junior inspectors or other staff members as needed.
  12. Participate in community outreach events and campaigns to promote lead poisoning prevention and awareness.
  13. Conduct investigations and respond to complaints related to lead hazards in a timely and efficient manner.
  14. Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when dealing with sensitive information and situations.
  15. Continuously assess and improve lead poisoning prevention and remediation processes and procedures.

Job Qualifications
  • Knowledge Of Lead Poisoning Regulations: A Qualified Lead Poisoning Inspector At City Of Jersey City Should Have A Thorough Understanding Of Federal, State, And Local Regulations Related To Lead Poisoning Prevention And Control. This Includes Knowledge Of Lead Testing Procedures, Remediation Methods, And Reporting Requirements.

  • Experience In Lead Inspection And Assessment: The Ideal Candidate Should Have At Least 2-3 Years Of Experience In Conducting Lead Inspections And Assessments In Residential And Commercial Buildings. This Includes The Ability To Identify Potential Lead Hazards And Recommend Appropriate Remediation Strategies.

  • Certification In Lead Inspection And Risk Assessment: A Lead Poisoning Inspector At City Of Jersey City Should Hold A Valid Certification In Lead Inspection And Risk Assessment From A Recognized Organization, Such As The Environmental Protection Agency (Epa) Or The National Environmental Health Association (Neha).

  • Strong Communication Skills: As A Lead Poisoning Inspector, The Ability To Communicate Effectively With Property Owners, Tenants, And Other Stakeholders Is Crucial. The Candidate Should Possess Excellent Verbal And Written Communication Skills To Convey Inspection Findings, Recommendations, And Regulations In A Clear And Concise Manner.
