We are currently seeking a skilled and highly motivated individual to join our team as an Elevator Inspector.As an Elevator Inspector, you will play a critical role in conducting thorough inspections of elevators and related equipment to ensure compliance with all local and state regulations. Your expertise and attention to detail will be vital in identifying potential hazards and ensuring the safe operation of these vital systems.To be successful in this role, you must have a strong understanding of elevator mechanics, safety standards, and relevant codes.   1. Conduct thorough inspections of elevators and related equipment in all buildings within the city to ensure compliance with local and state regulations.
  2. Identify potential hazards and safety issues during elevator inspections and promptly report them to the appropriate authorities.
  3. Maintain accurate records of all elevator inspections, repairs, and maintenance activities.
  4. Communicate and collaborate with building owners, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure timely and effective resolution of any elevator-related issues.
  5. Stay up-to-date with relevant codes, regulations, and industry standards related to elevator safety.
  6. Conduct investigations and follow-up inspections to ensure compliance with corrective actions.
  7. Provide guidance and assistance to building owners, contractors, and other stakeholders on elevator safety and compliance matters.
  8. Assist in the development and implementation of elevator safety policies and procedures.
  9. Collaborate with other city departments, such as building and fire departments, to ensure a coordinated approach to elevator safety.
  10. Attend training and professional development programs to stay current on industry advancements and best practices.
  11. Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to provide updates on inspection findings and recommendations.
  12. Conduct routine maintenance checks and troubleshoot any issues with elevator equipment.
  13. Ensure that all elevators have the necessary permits and licenses and assist in the process of obtaining them.
  14. Conduct random inspections and audits to ensure ongoing compliance with safety standards.
  15. Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor when interacting with building owners, contractors, and other stakeholders.

Job Qualifications
  • Knowledge Of Elevator Safety Codes And Regulations: An Elevator Inspector At The City Of Jersey City Should Possess A Thorough Understanding Of Elevator Safety Regulations And Codes Set By Regulatory Bodies Such As The Occupational Safety And Health Administration (Osha) And The American Society Of Mechanical Engineers (Asme).

  • Experience In Elevator Inspection: Candidates For This Position Should Have A Minimum Of 3-5 Years Of Experience Working In The Elevator Industry, With A Strong Background In Elevator Inspection And Maintenance.

  • Strong Communication Skills: As An Elevator Inspector, The Ability To Communicate Effectively With Building Owners, Contractors, And Other Stakeholders Is Crucial. Candidates Should Possess Strong Verbal And Written Communication Skills To Effectively Convey Inspection Findings And Recommendations.
