Job Description

The City of Jersey City is looking for an experienced and organized Assistant/Senior Planner to join our team. This role is critical in supporting the City’s comprehensive planning and development functions. The ideal candidate will be a great collaborator and have a passion for urban planning and development.The Assistant/Senior Planner will report to the Director of Planning/Zoning Officer and will be responsible for assisting in the development, implementation, and management of the City’s Planning Division. This individual will provide technical services in the development of short- and long-term planning initiatives.The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor’s degree in urban planning or related field and at least 5 years of experience in land use planning. They must have excellent writing and presentation skills, be highly organized and able to manage multiple projects and tasks, and be able to work collaboratively with a team. The ability to interact with the public and elected officials is a must. A professional certification such as AICP is preferred.
