
Assistant Buyer
Welcome to the City of Jersey City! We are currently seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Buyer to join our dynamic purchasing team. In this role, you will support our department in managing procurement processes and sourcing goods and services for various city departments. - Assist in managing procurement processes for the city, including conducting market research, issuing requests for proposals, and evaluating bids.
- Collaborate with city departments to understand their purchasing needs and assist in identifying appropriate goods and services.
- Source and negotiate with vendors to obtain the best value for the city while adhering to budgetary constraints.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of procurement activities, including contracts, orders, and invoices.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and policies related to procurement.
- Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and external vendors to resolve any issues or concerns.
- Monitor inventory levels and assist in managing inventory control systems to ensure adequate supply levels.
- Participate in the development and implementation of new purchasing policies and procedures.
- Assist in the preparation of reports and presentations for departmental and city-wide meetings.
- Continuously seek opportunities for cost savings and process improvements within the purchasing department.
- Maintain a positive and professional attitude, representing the city in a positive light at all times.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure that purchasing activities are carried out in a timely and efficient manner.
- Adhere to ethical standards and maintain confidentiality in all procurement activities.
- Stay informed of industry trends and best practices in procurement to inform decision-making.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Purchasing Manager or other city officials.
Bachelor's Degree In Business, Marketing, Or A Related Field
At Least 2-3 Years Of Experience In Purchasing Or Buying, Preferably In A Government Or Municipal Setting
Knowledge Of Procurement Processes And Procedures, Including Budgeting, Bidding, And Contract Negotiation
Strong Analytical Skills And Attention To Detail, With The Ability To Analyze Market Trends And Make Strategic Purchasing Decisions
Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Effectively Work With Vendors, Stakeholders, And Internal Departments.
