
GIS Intern
The City of Irvine seeks a hard-working, enthusiastic intern to perform technical/paraprofessional tasks related to geographic data and mapping in application to a variety of planning, engineering, and administrative functions. This is an excellent opportunity that will allow students to gain experience working in the GIS Department, as well as learn about municipal government functions and tasks related to the program area. Input and edit data in an ArcGIS software and database environment. Maintain high data quality assurance and quality control standards. Research and digitize a variety of CAD and archived paper sources. Design new databases and application to collect and store previously un-stored data. Train employees on how to use new applications.
College level coursework in Geography, Planning, Engineering, Computer Science, or any combination of education and experience
Ability to operate computer-related equipment, GPS, plotter, calculator, and other related tools.
Ability to be a supportive team member with a desire to work in diverse team settings
