
Assistant Emergency Manager

In this role, you will work closely with our Emergency Manager to develop and implement emergency plans, coordinate with various agencies and departments, and ensure the readiness of our city to handle any crisis. - Collaborate with the Emergency Manager to develop and implement emergency plans for the City of Irvine.
- Assist in conducting risk assessments and identifying potential hazards that could impact the city.
- Coordinate with various agencies and departments, such as law enforcement, fire department, and public works, to ensure a coordinated and effective response to emergencies.
- Monitor and track emergency response resources and equipment, ensuring they are properly maintained and ready for use.
- Train and educate city employees on emergency procedures and protocols.
- Conduct drills and exercises to test the city's emergency response plans and identify areas for improvement.
- Stay up-to-date on industry best practices and emerging trends in emergency management.
- Serve as a point of contact for the public and media during emergency situations, providing timely and accurate information.
- Assist in the development of community outreach and education programs to increase awareness and preparedness for emergencies.
- Prepare and present reports on emergency management activities and initiatives to city leadership.
- Respond to emergency situations as needed, providing support and assistance to the Emergency Manager and other city departments.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to emergency response and recovery efforts.
- Collaborate with neighboring cities and emergency management agencies to develop regional emergency plans and mutual aid agreements.
- Maintain a strong understanding of relevant laws, regulations, and protocols related to emergency management.
- Represent the City of Irvine at emergency management conferences and meetings, networking with other professionals in the field.
Bachelor's Degree In Emergency Management, Public Administration, Or A Related Field.
Minimum Of 3 Years Experience In Emergency Management Or Disaster Response, Preferably In A Municipal Or Government Setting.
Strong Knowledge Of Emergency Management Principles, Procedures, And Protocols.
Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Work Collaboratively With A Diverse Group Of Stakeholders.
Familiarity With Emergency Management Software And Technology, Such As Incident Management Systems And Gis Mapping Tools.
