- Provide high-quality medical care for the animals at the City of Honolulu zoo.
- Conduct routine health examinations and develop treatment plans for sick or injured animals.
- Perform surgical procedures and administer medications as needed.
- Monitor the health and well-being of all zoo animals and provide preventative care when necessary.
- Collaborate with zookeepers and other staff to ensure the physical and behavioral needs of the animals are met.
- Develop and implement animal husbandry protocols to promote the health and welfare of the animals.
- Keep accurate and detailed medical records for all animals in the zoo.
- Stay current with advancements in veterinary medicine and implement new techniques and technologies as appropriate.
- Participate in conservation efforts and promote awareness of wildlife conservation among zoo visitors.
- Train and supervise veterinary technicians and other support staff.
- Act as a liaison between the zoo and outside veterinary specialists.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and maintain a safe and clean working environment.
- Participate in on-call duties for emergency medical care outside of regular working hours.
- Maintain a professional and positive attitude while representing the City of Honolulu and the zoo.

Doctor Of Veterinary Medicine (Dvm) Degree From An Accredited Veterinary School
Current License To Practice Veterinary Medicine In The State Of Hawaii
Minimum Of 2 Years Experience Working With Exotic Animals, Preferably In A Zoo Setting
Proficiency In Diagnosing And Treating A Wide Range Of Animal Species
Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills To Effectively Work With Zoo Staff, Other Veterinarians, And Animal Owners
