  1. Use GIS technology to create and maintain accurate and visually appealing maps for various city projects and initiatives.
  2. Collaborate with other members of the GIS team to ensure consistency and accuracy in map creation.
  3. Collect, analyze, and integrate data from various sources to create comprehensive maps.
  4. Utilize cartographic principles and techniques to design maps that effectively communicate complex information.
  5. Conduct quality control checks on maps to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  6. Stay updated on the latest GIS software and techniques to continuously improve map creation processes.
  7. Collaborate with city departments to understand their mapping needs and provide support as needed.
  8. Participate in meetings and presentations to share and explain map data and findings.
  9. Manage and maintain GIS databases and ensure data integrity.
  10. Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to GIS software and data.
  11. Adhere to all privacy and security protocols when handling sensitive data.
  12. Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and standards.
  13. Uphold the mission and values of the City of Honolulu in all aspects of the job.
  14. Contribute to the development and implementation of GIS policies and procedures.
  15. Support the development and maintenance of the city's GIS website and online mapping applications.
  16. Mentor and train junior GIS technicians as needed.
  17. Collaborate with external stakeholders, such as contractors and consultants, to acquire and share GIS data.
  18. Proactively identify opportunities to improve GIS processes and make recommendations to management.
  19. Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders to ensure project goals and deadlines are met.
  20. Maintain accurate records and documentation of GIS processes and projects.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Geography, Gis, Cartography, Or A Related Field.

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience Working With Gis Software, Such As Arcgis Or Qgis.

  • Strong Understanding Of Cartographic Design Principles And Experience Creating Maps For Various Mediums (Print, Web, Mobile).

  • Knowledge Of Gis Data Sources And Ability To Acquire, Process, And Analyze Data To Create Accurate And Visually Appealing Maps.

  • Familiarity With City Of Honolulu's Geography, Infrastructure, And Community Demographics Is Preferred.
