1. Operate and maintain various types of heavy equipment including but not limited to trucks, backhoes, loaders, excavators, and other machinery.
2. Perform routine inspections and maintenance on equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
3. Operate equipment in a safe and responsible manner, following all safety protocols and procedures.
4. Monitor and report any equipment malfunctions or breakdowns to the appropriate supervisor.
5. Assist in the repair and maintenance of equipment as needed.
6. Operate equipment to perform a variety of tasks such as digging, grading, and hauling materials.
7. Complete assigned work orders and maintain accurate records of work performed.
8. Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to ensure tasks are completed efficiently and safely.
9. Adhere to all city policies, procedures, and regulations while operating equipment.
10. Maintain a clean and organized work area, including equipment and tools.
11. Continuously strive to improve equipment operation skills and techniques.
12. Attend training and safety meetings as required.
13. Collaborate with other city departments to coordinate equipment usage and maintenance schedules.
14. Provide exceptional customer service to residents and visitors of the City of Columbia.
15. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.
