We are currently seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Wildfire Mitigation Specialist (Fuels) to join our team. As a Wildfire Mitigation Specialist, you will play a crucial role in managing and mitigating the risks associated with wildfire fuels in our city.   1. Conduct research and analysis of wildfire risk factors, including fuel types, weather patterns, and topography, to develop effective mitigation strategies.
  2. Collaborate with other city departments, community organizations, and state and federal agencies to coordinate wildfire mitigation efforts.
  3. Develop and implement wildfire prevention and education programs to raise awareness and promote responsible behavior among residents and visitors.
  4. Conduct site inspections and hazard assessments to identify areas of concern and develop action plans for fuel reduction.
  5. Manage and oversee prescribed burns and other fuel management activities to reduce the risk of wildfires.
  6. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of mitigation efforts and make recommendations for improvements.
  7. Maintain accurate records and data related to wildfire mitigation activities.
  8. Respond to and assist with emergency situations, including wildfires, as needed.
  9. Stay current on industry trends, best practices, and technological advancements in wildfire mitigation.
  10. Communicate and collaborate effectively with team members, stakeholders, and the public to promote a culture of safety and responsibility.
  11. Continuously assess and identify potential hazards and risks, and take proactive measures to address them.
  12. Represent the city at community events and meetings to promote wildfire prevention and mitigation efforts.
  13. Provide training and support to other city employees and community volunteers on wildfire mitigation techniques and procedures.
  14. Assist with the development and implementation of the city's wildfire mitigation plan.
  15. Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations while performing job duties.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Forestry, Natural Resources Management, Or A Related Field.

  • Minimum Of 3 Years Experience In Wildland Fire Management, With Specific Experience In Fuels Management.

  • Knowledge Of Local, State, And Federal Regulations And Guidelines Related To Wildland Fire Management And Fuels Reduction.

  • Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Work Effectively With Diverse Groups And Stakeholders.

  • Certification As A Wildfire Mitigation Specialist Or Equivalent Training And Experience In Fuels Management And Prescribed Burning Techniques.
