  1. Oversee the daily operations of all power plants within the City of Austin, including ensuring the safe, efficient, and cost-effective production of energy.
  2. Develop and implement strategic plans and initiatives to meet the growing energy demands of the city.
  3. Monitor industry trends and regulations to ensure compliance and identify opportunities for innovation and improvement.
  4. Lead and mentor a team of power plant managers and staff, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  5. Develop and manage the budget for the power production department, ensuring responsible and efficient use of resources.
  6. Collaborate with other city departments and external stakeholders to ensure reliable and sustainable energy solutions for the community.
  7. Stay updated on advancements in power production technology and make recommendations for implementation when appropriate.
  8. Communicate effectively with city leadership, stakeholders, and the public about power production operations and initiatives.
  9. Develop and maintain emergency response plans to ensure the safe and effective management of power plants during crisis situations.
  10. Ensure compliance with all safety and environmental regulations and promote a culture of safety among all power production employees.
  11. Identify and address any operational or performance issues within the power production department, implementing corrective actions as necessary.
  12. Represent the City of Austin at industry conferences, meetings, and events to stay informed on best practices and promote the city's commitment to sustainable energy solutions.
  13. Participate in the hiring, training, and development of power production staff, promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace.
  14. Collaborate with the city's sustainability department to develop and implement initiatives to reduce the city's carbon footprint and promote renewable energy sources.
  15. Continuously review and improve processes and procedures within the power production department to increase efficiency and effectiveness.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Engineering Or A Related Field: A Strong Educational Background In Engineering Or A Related Field Is Essential For A Vice President, Power Production At City Of Austin.
