Job Description

We are currently seeking a skilled Signs and Markings Technician Specialist to join our team. As a vital member of our transportation department, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and improving our city's signs and markings.   1. Conduct regular inspections of signs and markings throughout the city to identify any damage, wear and tear, or safety hazards.
  2. Repair and maintain all types of signs and markings, including street signs, stop signs, crosswalks, and lane markings.
  3. Install new signs and markings as needed, following proper procedures and guidelines.
  4. Monitor and respond to citizen requests and complaints regarding signs and markings, ensuring timely resolution.
  5. Collaborate with other departments and agencies to coordinate sign and marking projects and ensure compliance with city standards.
  6. Maintain accurate records of all sign and marking maintenance activities, including work orders, inventory, and budgeting.
  7. Keep up-to-date with industry standards and best practices for traffic control devices, and make recommendations for improvements to existing systems.
  8. Operate and maintain equipment and tools necessary for sign and marking maintenance, such as paint striping machines and power tools.
  9. Train and supervise other team members or contractors in sign and marking maintenance procedures and safety protocols.
  10. Participate in special projects and initiatives to enhance the overall safety and efficiency of the city's roadways.
  11. Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and other city employees to ensure timely completion of tasks and projects.
  12. Adhere to all safety regulations and protocols while performing job duties to ensure the well-being of oneself and others.
  13. Continuously evaluate and identify areas for improvement in sign and marking maintenance processes and procedures, and make recommendations for enhancements.
  14. Represent the city and the transportation department in a professional and positive manner when interacting with the public and other stakeholders.

Job Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 Years Of Experience In Traffic Control, Traffic Engineering, Or Related Field.

  • Knowledge And Understanding Of Traffic Sign And Pavement Marking Design Standards And Methods.

  • Ability To Operate And Maintain Specialized Equipment Used For Installing Signs And Markings.

  • Familiarity With Local, State, And Federal Laws And Regulations Related To Traffic Control.

  • Excellent Communication And Problem-Solving Skills To Effectively Coordinate With Other City Departments And Contractors.
