  1. Develop and implement procurement strategies and policies in line with the City of Austin's goals and objectives.
  2. Conduct market research and analysis to identify potential suppliers and ensure the best value for goods and services.
  3. Manage the procurement process from start to finish, including drafting and issuing requests for proposals (RFPs) and evaluating bids.
  4. Negotiate contracts and pricing with suppliers to ensure fair and competitive pricing for the city.
  5. Collaborate with various departments and stakeholders to understand their procurement needs and provide guidance on procurement processes.
  6. Ensure compliance with all legal and ethical standards for procurement, including maintaining appropriate documentation and records.
  7. Monitor supplier performance and address any issues or concerns that may arise.
  8. Keep up-to-date with industry trends, regulations, and best practices in procurement.
  9. Train and educate city staff on procurement policies and procedures.
  10. Act as a liaison between the city and suppliers, resolving any disputes or issues that may arise.
  11. Continuously look for ways to improve efficiency and effectiveness in the procurement process.
  12. Contribute to the city's goal of promoting diversity and inclusion in procurement by actively seeking out and working with minority-owned and women-owned businesses.
  13. Represent the city at meetings, conferences, and events related to procurement.
  14. Provide regular reports and updates on procurement activities to department heads and city officials.
  15. Uphold the city's values and commitment to public service in all aspects of the job.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Or A Related Field.

  • Minimum Of 3-5 Years Of Experience In Procurement Or Supply Chain Management, Preferably In A Government Or Public Sector Setting.

  • Strong Knowledge Of Procurement Laws, Regulations, And Best Practices, Including Experience With Competitive Bidding Processes.

  • Excellent Analytical And Problem-Solving Skills, With The Ability To Negotiate And Manage Contracts And Vendor Relationships.

  • Proficient In Procurement Software And Systems, With A Demonstrated Ability To Effectively Utilize Technology To Streamline Processes And Improve Efficiency.
