- Develop and implement procurement strategies and policies in line with the City of Austin's goals and objectives.
- Conduct market research and analysis to identify potential suppliers and ensure the best value for goods and services.
- Manage the procurement process from start to finish, including drafting and issuing requests for proposals (RFPs) and evaluating bids.
- Negotiate contracts and pricing with suppliers to ensure fair and competitive pricing for the city.
- Collaborate with various departments and stakeholders to understand their procurement needs and provide guidance on procurement processes.
- Ensure compliance with all legal and ethical standards for procurement, including maintaining appropriate documentation and records.
- Monitor supplier performance and address any issues or concerns that may arise.
- Keep up-to-date with industry trends, regulations, and best practices in procurement.
- Train and educate city staff on procurement policies and procedures.
- Act as a liaison between the city and suppliers, resolving any disputes or issues that may arise.
- Continuously look for ways to improve efficiency and effectiveness in the procurement process.
- Contribute to the city's goal of promoting diversity and inclusion in procurement by actively seeking out and working with minority-owned and women-owned businesses.
- Represent the city at meetings, conferences, and events related to procurement.
- Provide regular reports and updates on procurement activities to department heads and city officials.
- Uphold the city's values and commitment to public service in all aspects of the job.
Bachelor's Degree In Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Or A Related Field.
Minimum Of 3-5 Years Of Experience In Procurement Or Supply Chain Management, Preferably In A Government Or Public Sector Setting.
Strong Knowledge Of Procurement Laws, Regulations, And Best Practices, Including Experience With Competitive Bidding Processes.
Excellent Analytical And Problem-Solving Skills, With The Ability To Negotiate And Manage Contracts And Vendor Relationships.
Proficient In Procurement Software And Systems, With A Demonstrated Ability To Effectively Utilize Technology To Streamline Processes And Improve Efficiency.
