  1. Develop and implement innovative and engaging library programs and services that meet the diverse needs and interests of the community.
  2. Provide excellent customer service by assisting patrons with research, reference, and technology needs.
  3. Manage and maintain the library's collection, including ordering new materials, cataloging, and weeding.
  4. Collaborate with other city departments and community organizations to promote library services and programs.
  5. Stay up-to-date on current trends in library services and resources, and make recommendations for improvement.
  6. Foster a welcoming and inclusive environment for all library patrons, regardless of age, race, gender, or background.
  7. Assist with budget planning and management for the library, including monitoring expenditures and identifying cost-saving measures.
  8. Train and supervise library staff and volunteers, ensuring excellent service and adherence to library policies and procedures.
  9. Plan and conduct outreach efforts to engage underserved populations and promote library services to all members of the community.
  10. Participate in professional development activities to enhance knowledge and skills and stay current with industry best practices.
  11. Maintain accurate records and statistics to track library usage and evaluate the effectiveness of programs and services.
  12. Handle any customer complaints or concerns in a timely and professional manner, striving to resolve issues and maintain positive relationships.
  13. Uphold and enforce library rules and policies to ensure a safe and respectful environment for all patrons.
  14. Act as a liaison between the library and the community, attending community events and building relationships with local organizations and individuals.
  15. Consistently demonstrate a commitment to the city's values of inclusivity, innovation, and community service in all aspects of the job.

Job Qualifications
  • Master's Degree In Library Science (Mls) From An Ala-Accredited Institution

  • Knowledge Of Library Systems And Technologies, Such As Integrated Library Systems And Online Databases

  • Strong Communication And Customer Service Skills, With The Ability To Work With Diverse Populations

  • Experience In Collection Development And Management, Including Budgeting And Selection Of Materials

  • Familiarity With Current Trends And Best Practices In Library Services, Including Information Literacy Instruction And Outreach To The Community.
