  1. Collaborate with the City Manager and other senior leaders to develop and implement the city's strategic vision and goals.
  2. Provide leadership and direction to city departments, ensuring alignment with the city's overall goals and objectives.
  3. Oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of the city, ensuring efficient and effective delivery of services to residents.
  4. Develop and implement policies and procedures to improve city operations and promote equitable and sustainable practices.
  5. Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the city government.
  6. Build and maintain strong relationships with community stakeholders, including residents, businesses, and other government agencies.
  7. Represent the city at public events and serve as a spokesperson for city initiatives and policies.
  8. Monitor and analyze city finances, making recommendations for budget allocations and cost-saving measures.
  9. Provide guidance and support to city staff, promoting professional development and fostering a positive work environment.
  10. Stay informed on local, state, and federal laws and regulations that may impact city operations and ensure compliance.
  11. Participate in the negotiation of contracts and agreements on behalf of the city.
  12. Serve as a liaison between the City Manager and city council, providing updates and recommendations on city issues and initiatives.
  13. Conduct research and analysis to inform decision-making and provide recommendations to the City Manager.
  14. Stay informed on current trends and best practices in city management and apply them to improve city operations.
  15. Uphold the values and mission of the City of Austin and promote a diverse, inclusive, and equitable community for all residents.

Job Qualifications
  • A Minimum Of 7-10 Years Of Experience In Municipal Management Or Related Field, Including At Least 3 Years In A Senior Leadership Role.

  • A Bachelor's Degree In Public Administration, Business Administration, Or A Related Field. A Master's Degree Is Preferred.

  • Proven Ability To Manage Complex Projects And Initiatives, Including Budgeting, Strategic Planning, And Community Engagement.

  • Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Collaborate And Build Relationships With A Diverse Group Of Stakeholders.

  • Knowledge Of Local Government Operations, Policies, And Regulations, As Well As A Commitment To Promoting Equity And Inclusivity In Decision-Making Processes.
