We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Assistant Director for our Austin Water Employee Leadership & Development team. This role is crucial in supporting our mission to ensure the efficient and sustainable delivery of quality water services to our residents.   1. Develop and implement employee development programs that align with the organization's mission and goals.
  2. Oversee the training and development of all employees within the Austin Water department.
  3. Collaborate with department heads and managers to identify training needs and create strategies to address those needs.
  4. Conduct regular evaluations and assessments of current training programs to ensure effectiveness and make necessary improvements.
  5. Develop and maintain relationships with external training providers to offer a wide range of learning opportunities for employees.
  6. Manage the budget for employee development programs and ensure cost-effective use of resources.
  7. Conduct research and stay updated on industry best practices in employee development to continuously improve the program.
  8. Serve as a coach and mentor to employees, providing guidance and support in their professional growth and development.
  9. Collaborate with HR to identify high-potential employees and create individualized development plans for them.
  10. Create and maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment that supports diversity and employee engagement.
  11. Monitor and track the progress and success of employee development initiatives.
  12. Provide regular reports and updates to senior management on the effectiveness of employee development programs.
  13. Stay up-to-date on relevant laws and regulations related to employee development and ensure compliance.
  14. Foster a culture of continuous learning and development within the organization.
  15. Assist in recruitment and selection processes, as needed, to ensure the hiring of qualified and motivated employees.
  16. Act as a role model and promote the values and culture of the organization.
  17. Handle any other duties and responsibilities assigned by the Director of Austin Water.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Human Resources, Organizational Development, Business Administration, Or A Related Field.

  • Minimum Of 5 Years Of Experience In Leadership And Development Programs, Preferably In A Public Sector Or Utility Setting.

  • Strong Knowledge Of Adult Learning Principles, Training Delivery Methods, And Performance Management Techniques.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Effectively Collaborate With Diverse Stakeholders And Build Relationships.

  • Demonstrated Experience In Program Planning, Budget Management, And Project Management, With A Focus On Driving Employee Development And Engagement.
