
Theatre Technician

- Collaborate with the production team to plan and execute all technical aspects of theatre productions.
- Operate and maintain lighting, sound, and other technical equipment during rehearsals and performances.
- Set up and strike sets, props, and other technical elements according to production needs and timelines.
- Ensure the safety and functionality of all technical equipment and follow proper safety procedures.
- Assist in the design, construction, and installation of sets, props, and other technical elements.
- Train and supervise student workers and provide guidance and support to help them develop their technical skills.
- Communicate effectively with the production team, including directors, designers, and stage managers, to ensure a smooth and successful production.
- Stay up-to-date on industry trends and advances in theatre technology to continuously improve the quality of productions.
- Maintain an organized and clean backstage area and storage spaces for technical equipment and supplies.
- Troubleshoot technical issues and make necessary repairs or adjustments to ensure the production runs smoothly.
- Assist with load-in and load-out of technical equipment and supplies for productions.
- Manage and track inventory of technical equipment and supplies, and make recommendations for purchases or replacements when necessary.
- Adhere to production budgets and help find cost-effective solutions for technical needs.
- Uphold the values and standards of the theatre department and Chapman University at all times.
- Attend production meetings and contribute creative ideas and solutions to enhance the overall production.
Proficiency In Technical Theatre Skills: This Includes Knowledge And Experience In Lighting, Sound, Rigging, Set Construction, And Other Technical Aspects Of Theatre Production. Candidates Should Have A Strong Understanding Of Industry-Standard Equipment And Techniques.
Experience In Live Event Production: The Ideal Candidate Should Have Experience Working In A Fast-Paced Live Event Environment, Such As Theatre, Concerts, Or Other Performing Arts Productions. They Should Be Able To Adapt Quickly To Changing Situations And Be Able To Troubleshoot Technical Issues On The Spot.
Ability To Work As Part Of A Team: Theatre Production Is A Collaborative Effort, And Technicians Must Be Able To Work Closely With Directors, Designers, And Other Technicians To Bring A Production To Life. Candidates Should Have Excellent Communication Skills And Be Able To Take Direction Well.
Attention To Detail And Safety: Theatre Technicians Are Responsible For Setting Up And Operating Equipment That Can Be Potentially Dangerous If Not Used Properly.
