- Provide academic counseling and guidance to students in accordance with university policies and procedures.
- Assist students in developing academic plans and setting academic goals.
- Help students navigate course selection, major declaration, and graduation requirements.
- Monitor and track student progress towards degree completion.
- Act as a resource for students to address any academic concerns or challenges.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date student records and documentation.
- Collaborate with faculty, staff, and other university departments to support student success.
- Develop and deliver workshops and presentations on academic topics.
- Stay informed about changes in university policies and procedures related to academic advising.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with students to foster a supportive and trusting environment.
- Provide referrals to campus resources as needed, such as tutoring, career services, and mental health support.
- Conduct regular outreach and communication with students to ensure they are on track with their academic goals.
- Participate in departmental meetings and trainings to stay current on best practices in academic advising.
- Contribute to the development and improvement of advising programs and services.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in working with students' personal information.
- Collaborate with other academic advisors to ensure consistency and continuity in advising practices.
- Keep accurate records of advising interactions and maintain confidentiality of student information.
- Act as an advocate for students and promote a student-centered approach to advising.
- Participate in recruitment, orientation, and retention activities to support the overall success of the university.
- Continuously seek opportunities for professional development and growth in the field of academic advising.
A Minimum Of A Master's Degree In Higher Education, Counseling, Or Related Field.
Demonstrated Experience In Academic Advising Or Counseling At The University Level.
Strong Knowledge Of Chapman University's Academic Programs, Policies, And Procedures.
Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills To Effectively Advise And Guide Students.
Ability To Work Independently And As Part Of A Team, With A Student-Centered Approach To Advising.
