Job Description

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is searching for a highly motivated Information Security Specialist to join our team and help us ensure the security of our systems and data. The ideal candidate for this position will have a passion for protecting critical information and will have a strong technical background in cybersecurity and information security. To be successful in this role, you should have excellent problem-solving and communication skills, be organized and detail-oriented, and have a solid understanding of security systems and protocols.

Responsibilities:

  1. Monitor and evaluate security systems, protocols, and processes to identify potential security risks and vulnerabilities.
  2. Implement measures to protect and secure data and systems from unauthorized access, malicious activities, and unauthorized disclosure.
  3. Develop and maintain security policies, procedures, and standards.
  4. Provide technical support and advice to staff on security issues.
  5. Monitor and investigate security incidents and provide timely reporting and recommendations for remediation.
  6. Research and evaluate emerging security technologies, techniques, and best practices.
  7. Stay abreast of the latest security trends and threats in the industry.
  8. Foster and maintain relationships with vendors and internal stakeholders.
  9. Perform other duties as assigned.
