  1. Prepare and maintain a sterile environment for surgical procedures by following strict protocols and procedures.
  2. Inspect and clean surgical instruments and equipment to ensure they are in proper working condition.
  3. Sterilize instruments and equipment using various techniques and equipment.
  4. Assemble and package sterile instruments and equipment according to established guidelines.
  5. Monitor and track inventory levels of sterile supplies and request replacements as needed.
  6. Maintain accurate records of sterilization processes and equipment maintenance.
  7. Follow safety protocols and ensure compliance with infection control standards.
  8. Communicate effectively with surgical team to ensure availability of sterile instruments and equipment for procedures.
  9. Identify and report any issues or malfunctions with instruments or equipment.
  10. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to identify areas for improvement and implement solutions.
  11. Participate in ongoing education and training to stay up-to-date on industry developments and best practices.
  12. Adhere to organizational policies and procedures, including confidentiality and ethical standards.
  13. Provide excellent customer service by responding to requests and inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
  14. Maintain a clean and organized work area to promote efficiency and prevent contamination.

Job Qualifications
  • High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Sterile Processing Technician At Catholic Health Initiatives Must Have A High School Diploma Or Equivalent. This Demonstrates A Basic Level Of Education And Ensures That The Candidate Has The Necessary Skills To Understand And Follow Written Instructions.

  • Certification In Sterile Processing: Candidates Must Have A Certification In Sterile Processing, Such As The Certified Registered Central Service Technician (Crcst) Certification From The International Association Of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (Iahcsmm). This Certification Ensures That The Candidate Has The Necessary Knowledge And Skills To Perform The Job Duties Effectively And Safely.

  • Experience In Sterile Processing: Catholic Health Initiatives Prefers Candidates With Previous Experience In Sterile Processing. This Experience Can Include Working In A Hospital Or Medical Facility Setting, And Demonstrates The Candidate's Understanding Of Sterile Processing Guidelines And Procedures.

  • Attention To Detail: The Role Of A Sterile Processing Technician Requires A High Level Of Attention To Detail To Ensure That All Equipment And Instruments Are Properly Cleaned And Sterilized. Candidates Must Possess Strong Attention To Detail To Ensure That All Processes Are Followed Correctly And That The Risk Of Infection Is Minimized.

  • Physical Ability To Perform Job Duties: Sterile Processing Technicians May Be Required To Stand For Long Periods Of Time And Lift Heavy Equipment. Candidates Must Have The Physical Ability To Perform These Job Duties And Should Be Able To Handle The Physical Demands Of The Role. This May Include Being Able To Lift Up To 50 Pounds And Being Able To Stand For Extended Periods Of Time.
